Storage pricing varies more by metro than most cost guides suggest: the median in Dallas ($106) is 136% higher than in Tucson ($45). That gap is why a single national range is close to useless when you are budgeting for one specific city — and why the per-metro medians below are reported with their sample sizes rather than pooled into one headline number.

Methodology
Rates are the lowest monthly rate each facility publishes on its own website, collected directly rather than estimated or modeled. Facilities that publish no rates are counted but excluded from every statistic. Before a rate enters a statistic it must be a flat monthly rate for a vehicle space: RV park sites, per-linear-foot quotes, and small self-storage lockers are excluded and counted separately. Headline figures are the median and interquartile range, which promotional teaser rates cannot distort the way they distort a minimum.
Of 291 facilities publishing a rate, 275 qualified and 16 were excluded:
- 9Cheapest published unit is a small self-storage locker, not a vehicle space
- 4Monthly RV park or resort site (living site with hookups), not vehicle storage
- 2Starting rate below $20/month — below any observed real vehicle space
- 1Rate is quoted per linear foot of rig, not as a flat monthly space rate
